Short Courses: Oncology Massage

The gentlest touch
Open to qualified and studying beauty therapists, this specialist course will prepare you to safely work with people in frail health, especially those with a history, or diagnosis, of cancer. Delivered by Oncology Massage Limited, you’ll learn how cancer forms and spreads, what living with cancer involves, the side effects of various treatments and contraindications relevant to touch therapy treatments and medical devices and the effect of gently touch on the fascia and nervous system. Students will leave with three practical massage sequences – lower body, upper body, head and neck – that can be used to complement beauty therapy treatments.
The techniques you’ll learn are currently being used across Australia in leading cancer organisations,
such as Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
