Finding Balance at ‘About Time’
Earlier this year, we had the joy of taking our newest cohort Beauty Therapy students down to Torquay for an afternoon that was all about connection, relaxation and inspiration. We spent the day at the most beautiful bathhouse called ‘About Time’, a space designed to nurture wellbeing and encourage us to pause, recharge and reflect.
The afternoon wasn’t just about unwinding (though our students enjoyed soaking up the calm atmosphere and making the most of the facilities!). It was also about planting seeds of inspiration for their own journeys in the beauty and wellness industry.
Inspiration from Industry Leaders
One of the highlights of the day was hearing directly from one of the bathhouse’s co-owners, Joey Beecher. Joey generously shared her story, from her early days in beauty therapy to the steps that eventually led her to create and run such a serene sanctuary. Her journey was a reminder that following your passion and staying true to what you love can open doors you might never have imagined.
Joey welcomed students to ‘About Time’, and shared the inspiring vision behind creating this space for relaxation and wellbeing.
For our students, it was a chance to dream a little bigger. To see that their careers do not have to follow a set path, and that the skills they are learning now can take them anywhere, whether that is inside a spa, working in a wellness space or even creating something unique of their own.
Building community
Beyond the inspiration, the day was also about connection. Watching our students bond with their classmates, sharing laughs, reflections and conversations between dips in the warm pools and cold plunges, it was a beautiful reminder that the student journey is just as much about community as it is about learning.
We want every student to feel supported to chase what excites them, to build a career that lights them up and to embrace experiences like this that show just how far their passion can take them. The afternoon in Torquay was a gentle but powerful nudge in that direction, a reminder to keep dreaming, keep growing and keep prioritising both their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of others.
